The cold brew extraction provides a smooth, delicate and more nuanced flavour. If you’re someone who struggles with the bitterness of coffee, cold brew is a way to savour the more subtle flavours of coffee.
It can be made ahead in a big batch and then sipped throughout the week with milk, sugar or served straight up over big chunks of ice.
💡 If you have a french press, you can make your cold brew in there! Just half the recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 cup coarse ground coffee
- 4 cups filtered water
- One giant jar or french press
Equipment
Recipe
- Coarsley grind the coffee
- Pour the coffee into your container, then slowly pour in the water
- Stir gently until all the coffee is saturated
- Steep for 12 hours or overnight, ideally in the fridge. If you like an adrenaline shot, keep on brewing for up to 24 hours.
- Strain using any coffee filters you have or a cheesecloth. It’s easier if you put the filter in a mesh and then pour over your nice and strong coffee. Serve the liquid over ice or gently heat up for a warm option.
Fun fact! Plants generally love a little bit of coffee in their soil.
