The Hindi word for tea is ‘chai’, so technically when you say ‘chai’ tea, you’re saying tea tea! Not that any of that matters, because we’re making coffee.
Ingredients
- 1 black tea bag, ideally a strong one like Assam. Leave your Earl Grey for another day
- One shot of hot espresso
- Chai latte powder mix (Alternatively, search for recipes for a DIY spice blend)
- 1/2 cup freshly boiled water
- 1/3 milk of your choice
- Cinnamon powder
- Honey or sugar, as needed
Equipment
- Espresso machine
- Milk frother (if it doesn’t come with the machine)
Recipe
- Steep the black tea and chai latte powder in a mug with the 1/2 cup of boiled water
- Whilst that’s happening, froth the milk of your choice
- Take out the tea bag and add the honey or sugar (if needed) and the shot of espresso. Give a gentle mix with a teaspoon and then gently pour the milk over it
- Dash with cinnamon powder. Not only does it help with curtailing the caffeine crash, but it taste great as well
